Sun-Times Publishes “Not Giving Up on Chicago” Letter from Leading a Better Chicago
The Chicago Sun-Times published a letter from our founder, Bill Quinlan, pushing back on the idea that Chicago has reached the “point of no return.”
Bill laid out the urgency of Chicago’s fiscal crisis, from $37 billion in unfunded pension liabilities to the mayor’s decision to borrow $830 million for operations. But he made clear that despair isn’t an option. “Chicago has always been a city of resilience. We don’t give up when things get hard. We organize. We innovate. And we fight for a stronger future.”
That’s why Leading a Better Chicago was launched—to bring transparency, accountability, and fresh ideas to city leadership. With support from Tusk Philanthropies, we’re conducting a deep analysis of Chicago’s finances, learning from other major cities, and pairing research with feedback from residents, community leaders, and national experts.
Our message is simple: Chicago hasn’t reached the point of no return. Chicago is always worth fighting for.
